Think Your ATMs are ADA A-OK?
Graham Currin's article in the Credit Union Journal should make any ATM operator or ATM Channel Manager think about how compliant their network of ATMs actually is. He provides some good insight into effectively managing your network, in addition includes guidance from one of the legal authorities on the subject.
While many have adopted compliance programs to check for voice guidance and braille at the ATM there are still large gaps in truly understanding accessibility. As an operator it is essential that not only do you have a point in time understanding of your network, but that it is ongoing and comprehensive of all of the 2010 ADA Regulations. Although the ultimate goal should be 100% compliance, one should not get overwhelmed if their network has potential access issues. A comprehensive compliance program will demonstrate commitment to comply with regulations, a full understanding of any issues and provide a sense of strong risk management. The goal of the updated 2010 standards is to provide access for all, not levy fines for non-compliance.
ATM Business Solutions, Inc. (ABS) has developed a comprehensive ADA survey program that will help operators gain a complete understanding of their network's compliance for ADA. To obtain a free no obligation review of your current compliance program please visit our website.
